Transport and Tours
Great Ocean Road & Grampians Trail is best explored by
car ,however for those unable to do so many excellent tours and public
transport options available. We do NOT recommend 1 day tours to either the
Grampians or the Great Ocean Road.
We recommend a minimum 2 day tour or more to either destinations or a
combined 3 day Great Ocean Road & Grampians tour as a mimimum.
The Great Ocean Road & Grampians trail can be included as part of Melbourne
to Adelaide or Adelaide/Melbourne travel.

Many car hire companies operate from Melbourne & Geelong
with Melbourne's new airport AVALON (www.avalonairport.com.au) located
just 15 kms from Geelong and 35kms to Great Ocean Road.
By flying into Avalon you can avoid the traffic problems of Melbourne and be
touring the Great Ocean Road & Grampians trail within an hour of arrival.
Bus Tours leave Melbourne daily many tours can pickup or drop you off from Avalon Airport or Geelong. Shuttle bus (www.avalonairportshuttle.com.au) service is available from Avalon Airport to Geelong or as far as Lorne on the Great Ocean Road.
Public Transport is mostly provided by V.Line Trains & Buses
(www.vline.com.au ) For Great Ocean Road
Trains operate several times a day from Southern Cross Station Melbourne to
Geelong.
Buses leave several time a day as far as Apollo Bay the half way point along
Great Ocean Road. Bus leave Apollo Bay Mon/Wed/Fri to Warrnambool.
Daily buses leave to both Grampians & Mt Gambier in South Australia from here.
Buses coming into and leaving Halls Gap.
Warrnambool to Ararat via Grampians National Park.
Ararat to Warrnambool via Grampians National Park.
This bus departs 3 times each week on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

The V Line bus departs from Melbourne daily with connections
from Stawell to Halls Gap(Grampians National Park) seven days each week of the
year.

V Line, Greyhound and Firefly operate daily services between
Melbourne and Adelaide. Passengers can get off at Stawell or Ararat( Tuesdays,
Fridays and Sundays). Please check to ensure that there are connecting buses to
Halls Gap in the Grampians National Park.
Wildlife Tours (www.wildlifetours.com.au) offer 2 and 3 day tours along the Great Ocean Road stopping in Halls Gap on the last night of their tour. Passengers can get off the bus in the Grampians National park and pick up a later bus to continue their journey.
